Filachizzy Breadfruit, Ukwa, Àfon, Jada, Gurasa Gurasa

Breadfruit contains considerable amount of starch. It may be roasted, baked, boiled, fried or dried and ground into flour. Breadfruit seed is a popular food in Nigeria. It is known as Ukwa by the Igbos and Àfon by the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria.

Nutritionally, breadfruit is an energy-rich, low fat food that is gluten free and high in fiber and minerals such as Calcium, Iron, and Potassium. The name breadfruit is due to the flavor of the fruit after being cooked which is similar to that of freshly cooked bread.
